The coaching model – and the other models that form the basis for ULP – are not only practical and easy to use, they come from Traut’s research for both his Masters and his Doctorate programs. Among those Traut calls instrumental include leadership and management greats like Warren Bennis, Frederick Herzberg, Henry Mintzberg, Peter Drucker, John Kotter, Noel Tichy, Clayton Christensen, and many others. Using their research as a launching point, Traut created simple, effective models that could be used in the throes of the workplace. Perhaps not surprisingly, Traut eventually came to know – and build training for – many of these leadership gurus.
In addition to leadership and management theory and research, Traut drew from his studies in adult learning and development (including Malcolm Knowles, Chris Argyris and others), to create training that was as effective as the models. Precourse, interactive discussion, video illustration of skills, and application with feedback, and on-the-job application (with manager involvement) became the hallmark Entelechy’s training.
